In Beautiful Stranger, finance whiz Sara Dillon met the irresistibly sexy Brit, Max Stella, at a New York City club. Through the series we’ve watched them learn to balance commitment with their less than private brand of playfulness. In Beautiful Beloved, Max and Sara take it to the next step.

But the question is: Will they be able to find a balance between the wild sexcapades they aren’t ready to retire, and the demands of parenthood that come along with their new Beautiful bundle of joy? Parenthood: it’s not for the weak of heart.

Sara and Max Stella (who we know from Beautiful Stranger) are now proud parents of little Annabelle and trying to adjust to the life of parenthood. Well, it has certainly strengthened their bond but also made Max realise just how fragile his wife actually is. So the big question is: will parenthood mean that the couple has to step away from their devious sexual practices one and for all?

What I loved about this book:

  • The super-steamy scenes
  • The fact that we get to find out about Max’ brother Niall!

What I felt needed improvement:

  • The story was way too short
  • The storyline is rather flat and apart from introducing Niall, it just feels like a bonus scene

Beautiful Beloved is part of the Beautiful Bastard series and will require you to have at least read Beautiful Stranger, which will explain how Sara and Max got together in the first place, and how they came to find out their shared love of deviant sexcapades.

Okay so first of all, the cover is misleading – it’s not really about pregnancy but more about post-pregnancy and how Sara and Max deal with it. In a nutshell, the couple used to be the craziest of all (at least where bedroom manners are concerned), but maybe the arrival of Annabelle means that they have to step it down a bit. And how could they even consider spending some quiet sexy-time alone when Anna just doesn’t want anyone but her mother take care of her?

Cue the other Beautiful crew, who will lend a hand (but to no avail…) until we get to meet Niall Stella, Max’ brother, who will come rock Sara and Max’ world by acting like the perfect babysitter and enabling them to finally get a life outside of parenthood.

Well, and while Beautiful Beloved‘s storyline isn’t exactly mindblowing, it is still full of the usual sass, humour and steam we know from Christina Lauren. As always, I really enjoyed the dual POV and the dirty talk!

And recently divorced Niall was purposefully introduced into the Beautiful Bastard character list, because the next book called Beautiful Secret will be all about him. Now that’s a book I can’t wait to read!
