Jessie Rhodes has been in love with Scott Reynolds for most of her life. But he ran away from her once, leaving her heartbroken.
When they find their way back to one another, things seem to fall into place, and they begin to plan their future together…
Until Scott’s ex-fiancée deceives them all. With yet another broken heart, it is Jessie’s turn to run away. During her retreat, she meets an intriguing man, and they form a bond that makes Jessie question everything.
Scott’s world collapses when the only girl he has ever loved disappears with no word on her whereabouts. When he finally discovers where Jessie has been hiding, he also learns of her new relationship.
Will deceit tear them apart? Or can Jessie and Scott survive their mistakes and choose to love and to cherish?
Convinced that Scott Reynolds betrayed her with his ex-fiancé, Jessie Rhodes is nursing yet another broken heart over him, and decides to run to a faraway place, leaving him high and dry.
However, Scott never did such thing, and is worried sick over Jessie, and has no idea of her whereabouts – and while he worries, she might have found someone to get over her heartache. But when truth finally comes to light (along with other unexpected circumstances), Scott and Jessie will have to face their mistakes and stay strong to overcome them as a couple. Will they be able to show the needed strength?
Cherished is the 4th installment of the Wanted Series, and even though I wasn’t really crazy about Scott and Jessie’s story, I still gave it a try. And unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed as the whole story was a bit predictable (I almost want to say that once you’ve read 3 Kelly Elliot books, you’ve read them all) and not intricate enough in terms of storyline. Sure, it was a bit more “agressive” than the other books, because now we’re way past jealous ex-girlfriends etc. and have upgraded to gun-possessing stalkers, but it still didn’t grip as much as I would have liked.
One thing that really confused me were the multiple POV’s. As per usual when reading a Kelly Elliott book, we do not only read from the two main characters’ books POVs, but from other couples such as Ellie, Gunner, Ari and Jeff. Well, I really liked this in the previous books, but it is starting to become very confusing, and I really didn’t like the fact that this actually interrupted the main story without adding any bonus. Truthfully, the POV switches in this book were useless and pretty much stalled the book. As did the countless confessions of love and sappy moments!
However, there’s a glimpse of light: I was more interested in Azurdee and Lark’s story – two side characters who can definitely promise a nice story. Azurdee is apparently pure and grounded, whereas Lark is still mourning his belated fiancé and sticking his head into the sand (and ill-natured or perhaps even illegal work) even though the connection that they both share is evident.
I will be looking forward to this sequel, but if I had known, I would have skipped Cherished altogether…
