Dante Sinclair never cared about his family’s money. All the young billionaire ever wanted was to be a cop; and now that he’s a homicide detective in Los Angeles, he’s a damn good one. But when he is injured and loses his partner in the line of duty, he returns to his vacation home in Amesport, Maine, to recover.
Sarah Baxter, a brilliant young doctor still struggling with her stifled upbringing, has recently moved from Chicago to sleepy Amesport to escape her past, hoping to find peace. When Sarah is assigned to Dante’s case, there’s an instant heat between them. They couldn’t possibly be more different, yet their igniting passion is impossible to ignore. As new feelings awaken within Sarah, her haunted past returns, threatening her once again. But can Dante overcome his grief and discover the secrets Sarah is hiding in time to protect and rescue her?
I’ve read almost every Billionaire’s Obsession book by J.S: Scott (i.e. a lot) and they somehow never get boring. And I stumbled onto this new series The Sinclairs while I was scanning Kindle Unlimited books with Audio support (so great when you spend a good deal of your time in the car and/or walking, and you can easily switch from audio to book version by just syncing).
No Ordinary Billionaire is the story of Dante Sinclair, one of the infamous Sinclair billionaire brothers. Dante lives an unusual life since he works as a detective in one of the most difficult and dangerous districts of Los Angeles. He is however back in Amesport and closer to his family since he got shot by a criminal after trying to save his partner’s life.
Sarah Baxter is Dante’s assigned Doctor in Amesport. The 27-year-old genius with an intellectual track record came from Chicago to Amesport a year ago, looking to leave her past behind. She is quite intrigued by the celebrity she is taking care of, but she would never allow herself to act in an unprofessional manner towards her patient Dante. However, Dante is bent on pushing her!
No Ordinary Billionaire is definitely a fast paced read – not that I minded. But Dante certainly wasted no time: frankly, the guy was mourning the death of his partner for weeks and all it took him to finally drag his head out of the toilet was one encounter with Sarah. And from then on, Dante becomes a J.S. Scott signature possessive protective alpha. He come on to Sarah very strongly, and she also gives in pretty easily which was ok, but I was missing the “chase”.
Other than that, the story was sweet, steamy, entertaining, and even held a couple of twists which made it more colorful. Even though I would have wished to find out more about Dante and Sarah once the book was over (I would have loved a longer prologue), it was a good read all in all, and gave a good insight into the books to come which I will definitely check out.
